New York City-based indie-rock band Rookie Mistake released “For Comrades And Lovers,” the second single off of their upcoming debut record Fields of Plenty.
The track has a beautifully raw sound that is unlike anything on their recent EP I Will Not Die In Upstate New York. Against rolling guitar riffs, Ethan Brown and Justin Gambardella (vocals, guitar) sing a soothing melody about moving on from things that hold you back in life. The song works towards an ethereal ending, as if to symbolize the lightness that can come with moving on.
Rookie Mistake originated as a student band at SUNY Oneonta. The four-piece indie rock outfit comprises Brown, Gambardella, Gianna Minerva (Bass), and Nick Fioravanti (Drums). After releasing their debut EP, Rookie Mistake relocated to Brooklyn to begin working on their debut album. They explain the passion and tight-knit nature they bring to the band, stating “We recorded and mixed the entire album in our small apartment’s living room while working full time jobs.”
The passion certainly comes through in “For Comrades And Lovers” as Rookie Mistake prepares listeners to hear a new, stripped-back version of the band when Fields of Plenty releases on September 25.
