The Park Theater Foundation in Glens Falls has announced their schedule for September and October, featuring a variety of jazz, album deep dives and improv comedy.
A non-profit organization, Park Theater has dedicated itself to enhancing the quality of life for the Glens Falls community. Providing a venue filled with an affordable, diverse lineup of entertainment options is the core goal.
The two-month lineup starts off September 10 with a deep dive from Rochmon Record Club into Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers’ album Damn The Torpedos.
Featuring an audio and video presentation hosted by Chuck Vosganian, known as “Rochmon,” and Executive Producer Karen “The Button Pusher.” Sweet Side Records will also be featured with a vinyl pop-up, which specializes in vinyl from the 1960s, ‘70s and ‘80s.
September 17 brings a jazz night featuring the Keith Pray Quartet, composed of Pray on saxophone, bassist Otto Gardner, drummer Matt Niedbalski and pianist Rob Lindquist. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the show kicking off at 7:30 p.m.
The Rochmon Record Club returns for another audio-video journey through Neil Young’s Harvest October 8. Voisganian and Karen will delve into Young’s tracks “Heart of Gold,” “Old Man” and “The Needle and the Damage Done.” Sweet Side Records will also return with vinyl sales.
Jazz night number two will bring drummer Niedbalski back as a host. He will be joined by special guests and local favorites who will perform an assortment of pieces from the genre, from classics to new originals.
Rounding out the lineup on October 17 are The Halloweentown Debates: A Comedy of Terrors. The improvised comedy experience will feature the region’s rising comics, puppeteers and drag queens to execute the premise of movie monsters running for local office.
Monsters like Dracula and Vlad the Impaler will debate pressing issues like graveyard shortages, energy costs for reanimation and rising costs of Thrall education. A customer contest rounds out the night where the winner or runner-up will have a chance to participate in the debate onstage.
