The Glens Falls Park Theater Foundation has announced the launch of its new live music competition, “Adirondack’s Got Talent.” With an Emerging Artists category for ages 18+ and a Youth division for ages 6 to 18, this contest aims to provide professional performing experience to up-and-coming musicians.
The competition, located at the Park Theater in Glens Falls, will span several weeks. Preliminary rounds, located in Doc’s Bar & Lounge on the Park Theater’s lower level, will take place every Wednesday evening from Oct. 21 to Nov. 11. During each of these preliminary rounds, four adult musicians and two youth artists will take the stage, with a panel of judges selecting a winner from each category to advance to the grand finale.
The grand finale of Adirondack’s Got Talent will take place on the Park Theater’s main stage on Wednesday, Nov. 18. On this evening, the winners from each of the previous rounds will compete for the grand prize.
The champion of the Emerging Artists category will receive a $500 cash prize, a commemorative trophy, and an opening performance slot at a regular season Park Theater show. The Youth winner will receive a trophy and a $100 gift card to a premier music store.
Applications to compete in either category of Adirondack’s Got Talent are open until Wednesday, Sept. 30 at 11:59 p.m. EST. For more information regarding application guidelines and eligibility details, see the Park Theater’s website.
Tickets for each of these shows are also available on the venue’s website. There is a $5 suggested donation to attend preliminary rounds. A general admission ticket for Nov. 18’s grand finale is $15.
