New York shows up for shows no matter what day of the week. Sunday, June 7 was no different for the Meet Me @ The Altar tour stop in Albany at Empire Underground.

The pop-punk group is currently on their ‘The Worried Sick Summer Tour’ for their album released earlier this year “WORRIED SICK.” This tour stop Fluorescents opened the night.
The four-piece pop-punk band from Chicago performed an opening set of 9 songs that carried energy reminiscent of the 2000’s pop-punk era. ‘Friday the 13th’ was a notable single for the night as it is named after the band’s favorite horror movie.

During the free day before the Albany show, Fluorescents visited Lake George, having only good remarks on one of New York’s most visited summer spots. They brought only high energy as they jumped on stage, encouraging the crowd to do the same, and by ‘Vibe’ everyone was warmed up for Meet Me @ The Altar.
Known for their high energy, classic punk style, and girl power they entered the stage supplying all three for the Albany crowd. Singer Edith Victoria came out decked in sparkles, safety pins, and fishnets.

Drummer Ada Juarez even joked to her fellow bandmate about her love for sparkles “This bitch loves her badazzeled stuff” referencing Victoria’s badazzeled water bottle. “Some things are better sparkly” she remarked back.
‘Hit Like A Girl’ was a powerful performance with the message alone, but Victoria announced to the crowd that this one was for all the girls and that she was making room in the center for girls to mosh together. As the crowd cleared girls entered the pit smiling and moshing with one another.

Albany also got to hear two unreleased songs ‘Strung Out’ coming out June 12 and ‘Pain In My Chest’ coming out sometime in July. The night would not have been complete without ‘Garden’ and ‘Kool’ being performed.
Two of their audience’s favorite songs from the messages to the backing track offer some of Meet Me @ The Altar’s best work. The night closed out with fans meeting both bands, taking photos, signing merch, and walking away knowing their Sunday night was well spent.
