On Friday, May 22, Keep Flying rushed the stage at Albany’s Empire Underground as part of their Ten Year Anniversary Tour. For the past month, Keep Flying has performed in a different city every night, choosing Albany as their second-to-last stop on their month-long anniversary tour. The smaller venue allowed fans to be up-close and personal with all of the bands.
The night began with a few openers. First up was Shortwave RadioBand, a five-piece acoustic rock band from Schuylerville. The band’s members included Andy Scullin (lead vocals and guitar), Lonny Eaton (bass, guitar, and vocals), John Woods (drums), Abby Stone (trumpet, keys, and vocals), and Ryan Shaw (guitar).
Vintri Hill, a three-piece Progressive Punk band from Troy took the stage next with Vincenzo Baldwin as the group’s lead vocalist and guitarist, Dimitri Cerrone on drums, and Tyler Munson as bass guitarist.
When Double XP took to the stage, the crowd nearly doubled. There was a sudden energy shift in the room. Fans were beyond excited for this Upstate NY pop-punk band, and even formed a mosh-pit as the night continued.
Lastly, Cinema Stare, a pop-punk and emo band from Connecticut! The group consists of Quinn (Vocals/Guitar), Jason Moriarty (Guitar/Vocals), Austin Hainey (Guitar), Joseph Pelegano (Bass), and Sean Maclure (Drums). Dave Carroll from Keep Flying joined them for the night, as Cinema Stare performed alongside Keep Flying the previous two nights of the anniversary tour in Brattleboro, VT, and Boston, MA.
Keep Flying shared how excited they were to return to Albany as they last performed at Empire Underground in June 2023. The night felt nostalgic as the band revisited their energy that defined their first decade, while also looking forward to what the future holds for the band. They shared how they were bittersweet about the tour ending the next day at their final stop in Amityville.
