Gym Class Heroes Great New York State Fair Homecoming Concert

On Sunday August 30, a pep rally of fans came to celebrate Gym Class Heroes with a homecoming concert at The Great New York State Fair. The crowd shouted words of admiration, and threw hand heart gestures into the air as the band sang their biggest hits.

The rain held out but the air was filled with electricity as Travie McCoy wooed the crowd with his effortless charisma and stagemanship. The set was filled with many highs and lows as front man Travie connected with the audience. McCoy laughed at himself for having only four toes, got personal as he took the time to honor his family for coming, and cried when he thanked his deceased Grandmother for believing in him but the moments that made time fly was his call and responses.

Segregating the audience into sections and giving them one portion of the song to sing. Travie dominated the call and response game by making the audience a part of his music.

It’s awe inspiring to think that these class clowns have graduated into elbow rubbing “billionaires” who have shaped the sound of the early 2000’s. On stage their audacity and enthusiasm for life is not only contagious but a motivational reminder that great talent comes from small places.

Set List: Intro / Kid Nothing and the Never-Ending Naked Nightmare (Snippet), Peace Sign/Index Down, Cupid’s Chokehold, Loved Me Back to Life (Travie McCoy song), Clothes Off!!, Ass Back Home, Viva la White Girl, Cookie Jar, Golden / The Fighter / Blinded by the Sun (Rotating/Snippet), Useless, Billionaire (Travie McCoy song), Stereo Hearts.
