On October 21, Webster Hall became the portal for “The Realm” of Castle Rat, a place where medieval fantasy and doom metal collides. Heavily relying on history, 1980’s visuals, Frank Frazetta‘s fantasy artwork, and theatrical performances to transport the audience into a one of a kind experience.

NYC’s very own Castle Rat is led by Riley Pinkerton as “The Rat Queen,” accompanied by “The Count” on lead guitar, and “The Plague Doctor” on bass. In this battle between good and evil they are assisted by “The Druid” and his magic book to defend “The Realm” from Death Herself, “The Rat Reaperess”.

Within the show one finds themselves transported into this fantastical land, accompanied by the most dazzling lighting displays, haze, and life-like props. Where you forget all time and space and get caught up into the story line. In which you find yourself invested into Pinkerton’s story arch as she goes on her hero’s journey.

If you enjoy doom metal, and theatrical live shows, Castle Rat is a must see show. There was not one flaw with this live event. Riley Pinkerton vocals are absolutely amazing, the band’s performance is flawless, and the entire production team is a well oiled machine from another dimension.
