A Lasting Voice in Reggae
Born Winston Rodney in Jamaica, Burning Spear emerged in the late 1960s after an early connection with Bob Marley led him to record at Studio One. From there, he built a career that would help define roots reggae.
Albums like Social Living, Hail H.I.M., and Resistance established Spear as a powerful voice in the genre, blending deep rhythms with messages centered on identity, resilience, and unity—often inspired by the teachings of Marcus Garvey.
A two-time Grammy winner (Calling Rastafari, Jah Is Real), Spear’s influence spans generations, with a catalog that continues to resonate worldwide.
Full Night of Music
The Brooklyn Bowl shows will also feature support from Lawgiver The Kingson, along with DJ Amy “Night Nurse” Wachtel, setting the tone ahead of Burning Spear’s headlining set.
An Intimate Night in Brooklyn
With a career spanning more than six decades, Burning Spear remains a commanding live performer. His Brooklyn Bowl appearance offers fans a rare chance to experience one of reggae’s most enduring voices in a more intimate setting.
