The Glens Falls Symphony has released their 2026-27 season with the theme “REV UP.” Shows will begin October 4, 2026 and last through February 13, 2027.
Composed of musicians from across the Northeast, the Glens Falls Symphony has been putting on musical premiers and performing with guest artists since Maestro Charles Peltz’ arrival in 2000. Glens Falls is the smallest city in America to support a fully professional symphony orchestra.
For the October 4 opening to the season, the orchestra is putting on Music at the Movies. A variety of well-known movie soundtracks will be performed, from epics like “Raiders of the Lost Ark” to classics like “Gone with the Wind.”
On November 8, the theme is Revolutions Old & New, featuring opera singer Xander McRae. McRae, originally from Dallas, has experience singing in concerts and the opera, including two years with the Adirondack-based Seagle Music Festival. He will join the orchestra as they perform pieces from revolutionary artists, starting with Beethoven and Mozart and ending with the more recent John Adams and Aaron Copland.
The annual Holiday concert returns December 6. Jazz singer Dominique Eade and students from the Hudson Falls and Corinth high school choirs will join the orchestra to perform holiday classics.
A vocalist and composer, Eade has been featured in numerous jazz festivals internationally. Her sophomore record, “My Resistance Is Low” was voted one of the top ten jazz CDs of 1995 with her later records, “When the Wind Was Cool” and “The Long Way Home” making the top 10 lists of The Boston Globe and Billboard respectively.
Concert four on March 7, Zing! Zing! Strings!, will bring performances of David Diamond’s Rounds for String Orchestra, Charlie Parker’s With Strings and Vaughan Williams’ Theme of Thomas Tallis.
This will feature jazz saxophonist, composer and college educator Allan Chase, who has performed jazz since 1974 as a member of the Nash-Allen Chase Duo, Your Neighborhood Saxophone Quartet and more. He now teaches the occasional graduate jazz course at the New England Conservatory.
The final concert of the season, Gustav Holst’s The Planets, will feature a projection of constellations named after Roman gods as guest reader Eleanor Peltz reads “odes” to each one. The orchestra will perform Holst’s The Planets, as the title suggests.
Two additions have been made to the symphony’s regular season schedule: the third annual Halloween event on October 14 and the second annual Valentine’s Day Family Concert on February 13, 2027.
