Ithaca’s dynamic band Pocket Bandits has announced their debut LP, Nine by Pocket Bandits, set to release on Jan. 25 on all streaming platforms. Following the release, the band has also announced an album release show in Ithaca on Jan. 25.

The self-produced debut LP features nine original tracks, including the band’s newly released single “Second Drink,” and “Midway.” Nine by Pocket Bandits features funky bass lines, nifty guitar riffs, wavy guitar pedals and strong melodies from band members Simon Bjarning (drums), Joe Massa (guitar) and Samuel B. Lupowitz (keyboard). The LP brings listeners through a journey of high energy, simplicity and funk-galore, all to leave listeners wanting more.
To celebrate Nine by Pocket Bandits, the band will perform the day following the release of the debut LP at Liquid State Brewing Company in Ithaca. The show will feature other local musicians and vocalists, including members of jazz-fusion mix band The Oxtet and powerhouse band Fall Creek Brass Band. Fans can look forward to additional Northeast dates being announced in the future.

Pocket Bandits formed in the midst of the pandemic and has since delivered jazz-funk fusion throughout Central New York. Inspired by the sounds of funk/jazz trio Soulive and GRAMMY-award winning band Snarky Puppy, the group fills dance floors with laughter and a good time. In addition to original compositions, the band covers popular renditions of pop artists, such as Chappell Roan and The Beatles.
