Icelandic rock band Kaleo stirred up mixed emotions on Saturday, September 6, at the State Theatre of Ithaca. Celebrating their fourth new album Mixed Emotions with a U.S. tour at the remote Finger Lakes City. Drawing in a wide range of concert goers, from the youth to their elders, making this a perfect show for the family.

Unlike most bands Kaleo brought with them depth alongside their musicianship to their live show. Bringing to light, dark foreboding topics that stir the mind and soul while accompanying the technical skills. While Icelandic singer Jökull Júlíusson’s voice is not only haunting, but piercing. Caressing a creative brink that many are too afraid to face, yet along embrace, and transmute, into a body of work that is raw, universal and extremely personal.
Nonetheless, the band’s connection and chemistry comes forward as everyone on stage equally shines. Giving space, serving the song and allowing everyone in the room to bear witness to the magic that is transpiring. Coming forth from drummer Davíð Antonsson, bassist Daniel Kristjánsson, lead guitarist Rubin Pollock and harmonicist Þorleifur Gaukur Davíðsson.

The band Kaleo is mostly known for their cinematic and commercial triumphs. They are that band that everyone knows of but may not know the band’s name. They know the sound, the beat, the voice but not the name. They are Grammy winners, RIAA Gold, stadium players, world travelers, and musical alchemists.
