Grammy Award-winning guitar duo Rodrigo y Gabriela celebrated their new album, OurHome, at Bowery Ballroom on Tuesday, October 27. With a packed house at a intimate venue, the performance felt particularly special.
Rodrigo y Gabriela are native to Mexico City but it was in Ireland where the duo began their performances, evolving into a career of composing, recording, and touring as they quickly garnered attention and acclaim. Don’t let the seemingly simple two acoustic guitars give a misleading cue – the duo combines traditional guitar style with incredible dynamics and emotion and a modern energy that makes their sound uniquely theirs.
The duo has proven time and time again that they can fill large halls with their sound, but that was not necessary for their Bowery Ballroom show. The smaller setting and full house lent somewhat of a coffeehouse atmosphere, perfect for enjoying a weeknight show without losing any of the energy Rodrigo y Gabriela bring to the stage.
While celebrating OurHome‘s recent September release, the set incorporated songs from throughout their formal 20+ year career. For the first time we heard Rodrigo with a vocal performance on “Somos Como Tu,” providing a contrast to their instrumental-only compositions.
Rodrigo y Gabriela continue their extensive tour internationally into spring 2027, with a handful of remaining North America dates remaining in November 2026.
Setlist: Akatsuk, Satori, Quicksand, Mettavolution, Descending to Nowhere, Finding Myself Leads Me to You, Monster, Ixtapa, Juan Loco, PPA, Tamacun
Encore: OurHome, Hanuman, Somos Como Tu
