Five For Fighting Announces String Quartet Tour With Broadway Musicians

Singer-songwriter Five for Fighting (John Ondrasik) is going back on tour across the US and Canada. The Five For Fighting String Quartet tour is making stops across in Riverhead, Clayton, Troy, Tarrytown, and New York City. The tour is set to kick off on September 19 and run through 2027.

You might know Five for Fighting best from his 2000s hit singles, “Superman (It’s Not Easy)” and “100 Years.” Both singles have made it to the modern American Songbook, cementing his influence on adult contemporary music and pop-rock. He recently performed at the July 4 Freedom 250 celebration in New York Harbor on the USS Nimitz.

This tour is a bit different from what Ondrasik has done before. A string quartet will accompany him this time, along with Broadway’s greatest musicians. This includes Katie Kresek and Melissa Tong on the violin, Chris Cardona on viola, and Peter Sachon on the cello. Additionally, folk rock duo Lace & Lee, who previously toured with Five for Fighting, will be opening the show.

Ondrasik is excited to go on tour this year, especially with the collaboration of the string quartet. “We look forward to sharing new songs, stories, and surprises along with the core tunes and special arrangements from my catalogue…We all look forward to seeing Five For Fighting fans, old and new, in this intimate setting.” He said.

When he’s not touring, Five For Fighting is best known for his humanitarian work and music education. Through a partnership Let Music Fill My World, a nationwide challenge called the Music Matters Challenge launched. Participants were able to compete and make music for prizes and showing the lasting impact of music education in schools.

Tour dates for the Five For Fighting String Quartet Tour are listed below. All dates are on sale, with select West Coast dates will be on sale at a later date.
