Looking for something to do over the summer? Bella Abzug Park in Hudson Yards has announced events that are free to the public this summer.
From May to October, every week of the month will feature different events, most of them focusing on music and the arts. Some of these include Pa’ La Calle, Vinyl Nights, and a weekend Spring Fling Festival.
Pa’ La Calle will take place on Wednesdays, starting on June 17. It features a dance class with organization Somos Latin Dance. It’ll also have a live DJ playing music from Latin genres such as salsa and bachata.
If you’re looking for a bit of nostalgia, Vinyl Nights will be giving a taste of what it was like to party back when everything was on vinyl. These will be on select Thursdays and Saturdays starting on June 4.
Some weekends will be packed with the Spring Fling, a festival dedicated to celebrating arts in the city. In celebration of its sixth anniversary, the festival will have an expanded two-day event on June 27 and June 28.
These events are being supported by the Hudson Yards Hell’s Kitchen Alliance (HYHK). Over the last few years, they have used Bella Abzug Park as a community space to bring New Yorkers together.
The Director of Programming and Marketing, Ariana Cipriani, emphasized why Bella Abzug Park is an important cultural space, especially in the summer. “The goal is to create a place where people can actually spend time, connect with each other, discover something new, and experience the city in a way that feels welcoming and accessible.”
Along with music, the calendar includes film screenings, live music, and family activities.
