The Disco Biscuits closed out their first tour of 2025 on Saturday night in Sayreville, NJ at the Starland Ballroom. Dubbed the Bubble Tour due to the growing orb of positivity around both the band and the surrounding community, the Biscuits dropped a vintage performance befitting of a band at the peak of its creative powers. Starland has played host to many an epic Biscuits show and the band added yet another chapter to this storybook with their first shows back here in nearly 15 years.
To kick off the final show of the tour, the Biscuits dusted off “Mirrors” and played it for the first time since June of 2016, a performance gap of more than 400 shows. A genuinely joyous and well received reunion with “Mirrors” set the stage for a “Shem-Rah Boo” of massive proportions. With an extended intro jam setting the tone, this version of “Shem” clocked in at nearly 40 minutes in length by the time its traditional ending sequence was completed and a subsequent drum and bass-fueled jam led directly into the newer “Photograph.” Another silky smooth segue into the harrowing “Orch Theme” followed this before the ending portion of “Save The Robots” closed out the first set.
In vintage Biscuits “dyslexic” fashion, the second set began with the beginning of “Robots” and then band was off and running once more, this time launching into another 20+ minute voyage that developed into a slower, funky jam and jumped right into the start of “Little Shimmy In A Conga Line.” The band then ripped through a few more of the newer songs in their live catalog, starting with another seamless segue into the triumphant start of “The Deal” and an explosive “Tourists (Rocket Ship)” before the ending of “Shimmy” closed out the set in fine fashion. To close out this latest chapter in Sayreville, the Disco Biscuits encored with the brand new “Postcard” before the aptly fitting “To Be Continued” closed the show and offered hope the The Bubble Tour, or another aptly named one, will reemerge down the road in 2025.
