Public Image Ltd. brought “This Is Not The Last Tour” to New York City’s Webster Hall on Monday, September 28, with John Lydon leading PiL through a career-spanning set following an opening performance from Plague Vendor.

Plague Vendor got the night started with a high-energy set that included “Anchor to Ankles,” “Jezebel,” “Breakdance on Broken Glass” and “Black Sap Scriptures.” The California punk band worked through 12 songs, including “Freight Train,” which was dedicated to Lou Reed, before closing with “UNC.”

PiL took the stage at 9 p.m., opening with “Home” before moving into “Know Now.” The band then performed “World Destruction,” Lydon’s 1984 collaboration with Time Zone, before turning to one of PiL’s most recognizable songs, “This Is Not a Love Song.”

The set reached across several eras of the band’s catalog, with early PiL favorites “Poptones” and “Death Disco” alongside “Warrior” and “Shoom.” The main set concluded with “Open Up,” Lydon’s 1993 collaboration with electronic group Leftfield.

Lydon was joined at Webster Hall by guitarist Lu Edmonds, bassist and multi-instrumentalist Scott Firth and drummer Mark Roberts. Nearly five decades after forming Public Image Ltd. following the Sex Pistols, Lydon remains at the center of a band that has consistently moved beyond the boundaries of traditional punk.

PiL returned for an encore featuring “Rise / Religion,” bringing the Webster Hall performance to a close.

The New York stop was part of PiL’s first extensive North American tour in eight years. Appropriately titled “This Is Not The Last Tour,” the run continues across North America before the band heads overseas, with additional dates extending into 2027.
