Sir Chloe Brings Hometown Show Energy to Webster Hall

On Thursday, April 16, Sir Chloe brought the Forgiving Tour Continued to Manhattan at Webster Hall. Coming off an opening run with The Last Dinner Party in Australia, the indie-rock band’s spring tour comes after months of anticipation. Having to cancel the majority of the Forgiving Tour last fall due to an appendectomy, the singer and fans alike were elated to be back together for a hometown show in New York City.

The night opened up with Suzy Clue, an Albanian singer and producer based in NYC. With her pink hair and powerful personality, she became known as the internet’s newest “hot emo girl.” Putting a new spin on the shoe-gaze genre. (Think a sound similar to a female version of Deftones). Husky, soft vocals, overlayed onto gritty guitar riffs that won’t get out of your head.

Backed by two stage dancers, her set was a whirlwind of movement and emotional lyricism. The crowd seemed unable to get enough of her. Bodies swayed in tune with Clue’s music, as hands were thrown forward in the air, reaching towards stage edge. She encouraged fans to kiss each other and join the band up on stage to dance. Suzy Clue performed favorites such as “Holy Touch” and “Uneasy,” paired with a few unreleased tracks

Sir Chloe (by Kait Dugan)

Sir Chloe is the stage name of Dana Foote, an indie-rock artist from New York. The band was formed in 2017 as a thesis project for Foote, who was a music composition student at Bennington College. Opting to form a band and put on a concert over writing a final paper, Foote and her classmates created Sir Chloe. Her soft vocals paired with a grunge-rock backing band reflect its namesake, an ode to the name her mother almost gave her (Chloe) with a touch of androgyny (Sir). The band became prominent on TikTok after the 2020 release of “Michelle” and have released three studio albums, Party Favors (2020), I Am The Dog (2023), and Swallow the Knife (2025).

Opening the night with “Squaring Up” band members Soph Shreds, Maya Stepansky, and Alina Sloan warmed up the crowd for Sir Chloe’s anticipated arrival. Singing the first verse from off-stage, the frontwoman strutted up to center stage at the start of the chorus engulfed in shades of blue.

As the night progressed, blues shifted to red for “July.” Rather than plucking the microphone from its stand, Sir Chloe opted to carry the stand with her as she traversed around. Singing directly to the crowd from each corner of the stage, fans were just as in tune with the music as the band was. From headbanging and hair-flipping to jumping and scream-singing to “Take It” and “Kiss,” the crowd heavily interacted with the indie-rock singer from start to finish.

Heavily inspired by traditional Balkan music and artists like St. Vincent and Cage the Elephant, Sir Chloe’s experimental sound fluctuates between soft straight-toned vocals and feminine rage. Combined with emotional, deeply honest songwriting, the gritty jam-band aspect to Sir Chloe makes them even more interesting. The band’s androgynous approach only adds additional visual character.

Between bass-heavy shoegaze-rock anthems, Sir Chloe slowed it down for “Too Much (Not Enough)” and “Eyes.” Kneeling on the stage monitors to be eye-level with the crowd, Sir Chloe ended the lighter part of her set by laying on her back across the Webster Hall stage as fans sang the last verse of “Eyes” with her.

The indie-pop band concluded the main set of the show with “Candy,” the closing track from Swallow the Knife. The eerie, harmony-filled song left fans waiting to hear the song that started it all for Sir Chloe – “Michelle.”

The slow chord progression of “Michelle” caused the crowd to re-awaken. Gripping the barricade while headbanging, fans recited the lyrics of the band’s hit song by heart. Wrapping up the night with “Too Close,” ending the show with two songs off of their debut album Party Favors only felt right for Sir Chloe and their fans.
