Bridging the gap between The Bronx and the Dominican Republic, Chacka’s energy did just that this past weekend at the Bronx Music Hall on Saturday, April 18.
Raised in the Bronx, Chacka showed out for the city’s people and the community showed up in full force, dressed in streetwear styles similar to the singer himself, sporting a NY Rangers jersey.
DJ Legacy warmed up the crowd with classic rap hits ranging from El Cherry Scom to Jay Z to Chacka’s very own. Creating anticipation for what the night will bring. As soon as Chacka came out, the crowd erupted in cheers and excitement. The venue provided an intimate concert experience that allowed the fans to connect deeply to the music and all the artists of the night. This was the first concert Chacka performed in The Bronx, and the community fully supported the high energy and the artists.
Chacka returning to his home stage emphasizes how impactful the night was, with fans reciting the lyrics and phone flashes filling the crowd. With real-life storytelling was gritty and raw, blending NYC hip-hop and Dominican Trap/dembow, he bridges the gap between the Caribbean and the East Coast using rap as the middle ground.
Chacka’s presence and fans show how respected he is in the scene, having worked with artists like Mozart, La Para and Lápiz Conciente. He maintains his authenticity through his storytelling over mainstream sounds. He is a product of two worlds, and this past weekend, the Bronx experienced just that.
This show, Chacka Unplugged, is a part of a 3-peat run, the next one in the Dominican Republic and another in Bogota, Colombia. Chacka showed he has a strong fanbase, as when the crowd started to leave the show, people were taking pictures with him and hanging around the venue with excitement. Chacka performed a full 22 songs, some from his last album, Suprema, which was released this year.
