Be sure to break out your ladles and dancing shoes for the first-ever Syracuse Soup Jam. The fundraising event will take place at Shifty’s Bar & Grill on Sunday, December 7, and will feature an afternoon of live music, goodwill, and, of course, soup.

The event was born from the kindness and generosity of community advocate Kathryn Grener Argiro. She shares that the concept originated with an annual show in northern New York, but she hoped to bring a similar experience to Syracuse. Argiro wanted to blend local music with community spirit and charitable purpose and thus, the Syracuse Soup Jam was born. Plans for a follow-up event are already in the works.
On Sunday, music at Shifty’s will run from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and will include performances by Syracuse favorites such as Colin Aberdeen, the Transient Kicks Trio, Jessie Elizabeth, Moe Mitchnick & Richard Bureau, Rock Voices Choir, KASH, and Paul Davie. Attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable food donations, winter coats, hats, gloves, or other essential supplies, as well as a crock-pot of their favorite soup to share.
Admission is $10, with all proceeds being donated to Music for the Mission.
