Artist Bio: Waterparks
Hailing from Houston, Texas, Waterparks have carved out a colorful corner in the modern alternative scene. The trio — frontman Awsten Knight, guitarist Geoff Wigington, and drummer Otto Wood — have spent the past decade evolving from underground favorites to genre-bending innovators. They’re known for their high-energy shows, playful social media presence, and willingness to push genre boundaries. Waterparks has cultivated a fiercely devoted fanbase who connect deeply with their honest, tongue-in-cheek lyrics and chaotic charm. With albums like FANDOM and Intellectual Property, the band has created a world that you can lose yourself in.

For the final stop of their three-city “Secret Small Show” run, Waterparks turned Le Poisson Rouge (LPR) into a sweat-soaked sanctuary of chaos, nostalgia, and community. The 200-capacity West Village venue — a huge difference from the large theaters the band now plays — hosted one of Waterparks’ most intimate shows in nearly a decade.

The night before, the band took over the Brooklyn Paramount box office, personally selling tickets to their upcoming November show. But for the lucky fans who managed to snag a spot at LPR — some of whom flew in from as far as Florida — this night was a once in a lifetime experience.

The Show
By sunrise, the line was already snaking down Bleecker Street, with fans camping out from 6 a.m. for doors that wouldn’t open until 7 p.m. Concert bracelets were traded, inside jokes were shared, and the air buzzed with anticipation.

Once Waterparks hit the stage, the energy detonated. Opening with “RED GUITAR” and “Numb,” the band wasted no time turning the packed floor into a singalong frenzy. The most jaw-dropping moment came when they played “Little Violence” — a track from their 2016 debut album Double Dare that, to the shock and delight of longtime fans, had never been performed live until now.

Between the fan-favorite anthems and deep cuts, Awsten was his usual chaotic self — joking and feeding off the crowd’s unrelenting energy. Even in such a small space, Waterparks’ performance felt massive. The crowd shouted every chorus back at full volume, amplifying every beat of Otto’s drums and one of Geoff’s riffs.

Phones stayed mostly down, replaced by waving hands and crowd surfers galore — a rarity at shows in 2025.
After such a once in a lifetime show, there’s still good news: the chaos continues this fall. Waterparks will return to NYC for their Brooklyn Paramount show on November 18th (tickets here). They promise a spectacle that’ll turn the gorgeous venue into the most colorful night of the year.
