Award winning singer/songwriter, and lead singer/guitarist of band Talking Heads, David Byrne, makes a return seven years after the release of his critically acclaimed concert film American Utopia, with a new album Who Is The Sky?. Byrne will also be back on the road for his Who Is The Sky? Tour, coming to NY September 21, traveling from Upstate to The Big Apple.

Releasing September 5, David Byrne’s Who Is The Sky? includes appearances from many different artists including St.Vincent, Paramore’s Hayley Williams, The Smile drummer Tom Skinner, and American Utopia percussionist Mauro Refosco. Produced by Grammy-winning Kid Harpoon, who’s produced for artists like Harry Styles and Miley Cyrus, Who Is The Sky? includes a list of twelve tracks arranged by members of the chamber ensemble Ghost Train Orchestra.
With Who Is The Sky? radiating elements of alternate reality’s and themes of escaping ones self, designer Shira Inbar incorporated these concepts in the Album cover art seen above. In the center, Byrne is immersed and obscured by a radiating kaleidoscope of color, wearing a psychedelic outfit designed by Belgian artist Tom Van Der Borght.

David Byrne describes the album as an “anthropological view of New York”, viewing how people aren’t so different from one another. The album contains optimistic themes of potential societal unity and connection despite the world we’re living in today. The title track Everybody Laughs is available now, and emits these exact themes, sounding cinematic, joyful, and humorous all at the same time. Along with the song, Byrne has also released an official music video, directed by multimedia artist Gabriel Barcia-Colombo.
Who Is The Sky? Tour is making its first New York stop in Schenectady, at the historical Proctors Theater. Located just a block from the Schenectady Amtrak Station, Proctors Theater has been the Capital Region’s destination for major Broadway shows, film festivals, and special events since its reopening in 1979. Next stop is the Syracuse Landmark Theater, which first opened in 1928. The following destination is Shea’s Buffalo Theater, which began as a movie house for Paramount Pictures in 1926, and is now one of the most historic places in America, still in magnificent condition.

David Byrne is also making his way to NYC, playing three shows at the famous Radio City Music Hall on September 30, October 1, and October 10. The touring band will comprise 13 musicians, singers, and dancers. Tickets go on sale Friday, June 13, and artist presale is live now until June 12th at 10:00pm.
