Maverick Concerts announced its 2025 Summer Music Season, offering a lineup of world-class performances in a one-of-a-kind setting near the village of Woodstock.
Nestled in the woods, the barn-like structure of the Maverick Concert Hall boasts acoustics that make every note come alive, creating an intimate and delightful experience like no other. From classical masterpieces to contemporary hits, this season offers something for every music lover.

The 2025 season will feature Maverick Family Concerts on Saturday mornings, offering free performances for all ages, Maverick Saturday Nights, showcasing Jazz at the Maverick, folk, world, and contemporary music, and the renowned Sunday Afternoon Maverick Chamber Music Festival.
The Maverick Chamber Music Festival, which has been a hallmark of the series since 1916, opens on June 29, kicking off a season of memorable performances from some of the finest classical musicians in the country. The festival, which takes place on Sunday afternoons at 4:00 PM, will feature a rich mix of historical masterpieces and contemporary works. Under the direction of Alexander Platt, Maverick’s Music Director since 2003, the Maverick presents concerts that blend the familiar with the new, offering a unique musical experience.

Highlights of the chamber music series include the Maverick debut of the California ensemble, Trio Celeste (June 29) performing piano trios by Mendelssohn and Dvořák alongside new works by Hudson Valley composer, Gilda Lyons.

On July 6, the Manhattan Chamber Players will perform contemporary works by Valerie Coleman and Russell Platt, along with Mozart’s Piano Quartet and Clarinet Quintet.

The festival continues on July 13 with the return of the Miro Quartet, performing Haydn, Ravel, and Ginastera.

On Saturday, July 19 at 8 PM, New York pianist Adam Tendler offers a daring solo program featuring modern piano works by Ravel, Griffes, Morton Feldman, and John Adams.

The Pacifica Quartet returns on July 20 with a program of Mendelssohn, Bartók, and Dvořák’s “American” Quartet.

The Horszowski Trio will perform on July 27, celebrating the 60th birthday of Russell Platt and the 150th anniversary of Maurice Ravel, with works by Ravel, and Fauré.

August brings more exceptional performances, starting on August 3 with pianist Blair McMillen and cellist Wendy Sutter in a program of Cello Sonatas by Debussy and Shostakovich, alongside new works by Joel Harrison and Don Byron.

On August 10, violinist Elissa Lee Koljonen and pianist Natalie Zhu perform music by Brahms, Fauré, Clara Schumann, Ellen Taaffe Zwilich, and Ravel.

The Callisto Quartet, joined by bassoonist Peter Kolkay, will perform on August 17 with a program including works by Joan Tower and Haydn’s “Emperor” Quartet.

The Caroga Arts Ensemble, conducted by Alexander Platt, returns on Saturday, August 23 at 6 PM for the Maverick Chamber Orchestra Concert, featuring works by Manno, Stravinsky, and Britten, and a performance of Philip Glass’ Piano Concerto No. 3 with pianist Simone Dinnerstein.

On August 24, the Copland House Ensemble returns with a program featuring works by Joan Tower, George Tsontakis, Schumann, and Fauré.

The Dalí Quartet performs on August 31, with a program of Tchaikovsky, Eleanor Alberga, and Reynaldo Hahn followed by a 6:30 PM Postlude performance with pianist Mayumi Tsuchida performing a tribute to Clara Schumann.

The classical season draws to a close in September with returning audience favorite, the Borromeo String Quartet on September 7, performing works by Eleanor Alberga, Aaron Jay Kernis, and Beethoven, followed by a 6:30 Postlude featuring pianist Michael Stephen Brown, performing the complete Nocturnes of Fauré.

The season finale on September 14 will showcase pianist Magdalena Baczewska and the Cassatt String Quartet, performing the world premiere of Joan Tower’s latest String Quartet, alongside Schumann’s Piano Quintet.

In addition to its classical offerings, Maverick Saturday Nights continues to expand programming with an exciting lineup of Jazz at the Maverick, folk, world, and contemporary music performances. Maverick Saturday Nights opens its season of programming on June 28 with three incredible artists—Cindy Cashdollar, Joan Osborne, and Rachael Yamagata. This trio of friends, each renowned for their distinctive musical styles, will come together for a rare performance that blends roots, blues, and soul.

On July 5 rising jazz star Connie Han and her trio will take the stage for their highly anticipated Maverick Concerts debut.

On July 12, Smithsonian Folkways artist Elizabeth Mitchell and friends return to Maverick Saturday Nights in celebration of the music of the late composer (and Woodstock resident) Peter Schickele performing the 1967 Joan Baez album “Joan,” featuring orchestral arrangements by Schickele.

July 26 marks the return of one of the premier ensembles in contemporary jazz, the Fred Hersch Trio.

As the Hudson Valley’s top rhythm section, The Restless Age will make their Maverick debut on August 2, showcasing their indie-rock style after performing with legends like Donald Fagen, John Sebastian, Graham Nash, Kate Pierson, Joan Osborne, Cindy Cashdollar, and Amy Helm.

Joel Harrison’s Free Country Quintet unites some of Woodstock’s finest studio musicians, blending the rich traditions of country and Appalachian music with a fresh jazz interpretation on August 9.

On August 16, Steve Gorn with Kashal Das and Samir Chatterjee will return to Maverick for an evening of classical music from India.

On August 30, the Bill Charlap Trio, unmatched among contemporary jazz groups, brings the Great American Songbook to life on the Maverick stage.

On September 6, the Olli Soikkeli Trio will make their Maverick debut with a tribute to the music of Django Reinhardt.
Maverick Family Saturdays, offering free, 45-minute concerts at 11am, will feature even more performances for families to enjoy this season. Designed to engage children of all ages with music in fun and accessible ways. The series will include performances by Trio Celeste (June 28), jazz pianist, Connie Han, will introduce young listeners to the world of jazz (July 5), and Peter Blum will demonstrate Himalayan singing bowls, large gongs and other exotic instruments (July 12).
One of classical music’s most recognized and celebrated artists pianist, Adam Tendler (July 19), music and stories with kids favorite, Jason Vance (July 26) and the world’s first professional toy piano virtuoso Margaret Leng Tan (August 2). A multi-arts presentation of Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf will include a crankie and shadow puppets; followed by an instrument petting zoo (August 9).
