Reprise – Recreating Class Phish Shows – On Tour This Winter with Stops at Brooklyn Bowl, Putnam Place

Reprise, a band formed to reprise the Phish experience, is on the road this winter, making their way through New England and the Northeast, recreating classic Phish shows from the towns of each tour stop.

They’ll hit the road starting January 23 in Pembroke, MA with a trio of shows. Then after a show in Pawtucket, RI, the band makes their way towards New York, with shows in Saratoga Springs on Friday, March 7 and Brooklyn Bowl the next night. They’ll wrap things up in New Hope, PA on Sunday, March 9.

Reprise is an all-star New England band, featuring Cal Kehoe, longtime frontman for Pink Talking Fish on guitar, Adrian Tramontano (Twiddle, Kung Fu, The Breakfast) keeping the beat on drums, Scott Chasolen (ulu, The Machine) on keys and Chris DeAngelis (The Machine, Kung Fu, The Breakfast) rounding out the foursome on bass.

As noted by Matt Hoffman last summer, there are both practical and philosophical reasons Reprise makes sense as a band. “These guys are tremendous friends and HUGE Phish fans,” says manager Tom Marshall. “They’ve all played together in various combinations for a long time, and for them, this is a dream gig.” Marshall has known Chasolen since the early 2000s, when Chasolen’s former band, ulu, opened for Marshall’s former band, Amfibian. Since his ulu days, Chasolen has gone on to play for years with DeAngelis, who in turn has a long history of playing with Tramontano, and they’ve all played with Kehoe.

Reprise at Lark Hall – December 13, 2024

“It starts with people and relationships,” says DeAngelis. “It’s so fun to play with musicians of this caliber who are as passionate about this music as I am. Phish is such a part of the fabric of my life.” Tramontano agrees: “Over years of playing together, we’ve all learned, both from Phish and one another, to take risks, recover, and just go with it.” Says Chasolen, the group’s elder statesman, of Kehoe, its youngest: “It doesn’t feel like there’s an age difference between us. That’s what happens when you connect with a fellow artist.”

With each performance, Reprise re-creates an iconic Phish show in full, from the town (or nearby), down to the length of the jam and different elements contained within. As we noted in our December review of Reprise at Lark Hall, even though you can never go back and see your first show a second time, no matter how many times you relisten, Reprise offers the next best thing – four top notch musicians who do their homework, nail the songs and jams and master the interplay of Phish with self-assured panache.

Don’t miss the upcoming shows – they’ll announce what Phish show will be performed in each town a week or so beforehand. Check back for updates!
