We made it! 2025 is officially here and somehow already two weeks old. If you’re both the resolution-making kind and the live-music-attending kind, it’s possible you have resolved to see more concerts this year. And if that is the case, hopefully we can be of some assistance. Here are five shows to warm up your Rochester January.
January 18: Moho Collective @ Lovin’ Cup
Moho Collective has consistently been one of the most exciting, original and creative forces on the Rochester scene for a long time. 15 years to be exact. They’re celebrating that fact with a 15 year anniversary show where they will flex all of their musical muscles. Recently added Moho, Alan Murphy, rounds out the now quartet on keys, adding extra oomph, to their all instrumental fusion of sounds.
Tickets are $15/$20dos. Doors open at 7pm and the show gets started around 8pm.

January 20: Tyler Westcott and Bobby Henrie @ Little Cafe
Songwriter and musical everyman from Buffalo, Tyler Westcott, continues his yearly Very Hairy January residency in Rochester with a different musical identity and lineup every Monday. They’ll all be worth your attention, but this night paired with Rochester legend Bobby Henrie should be extra special as they explore Gypsy jazz and swing music.
The show is free and will start at 7pm.

January 24: Best Life 2025 @ Water Street Music Hall
Mikaela Davis and Southern Star have been taking the country by storm the past couple of years and will top this bill of Rochester’s best and brightest bands to benefit 13 Thirty Cancer Connect, a non-profit dedicated to helping teens and young adults living with cancer live their very best lives through every phase of their cancer experience. Each band on this bill is worthy of a recommendation on their own, it’s a very strong lineup top to bottom. A fun night for a great cause.
Tickets are $30. Doors open at 5:30p and music gets started at 6pm.
January 25: Maybird @ Bug Jar
Another Rochester mainstay, Maybird returns to the raucous Bug Jar stage with their exciting whirlwind of psychedelia. It continues a month where you can take in a mind-boggling amount of homegrown talent. Rounded out with uber-talented songwriter DM Stith doing a solo set and fresh-to-the-scene Robot Hand featuring Shane and Cian McCarthy from Southern Star with songwriter Annabelle Lord-Patey.
Tickets are $10/$15dos and doors open at 8pm.
January 31: Donna the Buffalo @ Theater at Innovation Square
These Americana roots rockers have been at it for over 35 years and show no signs of slowing down. And why should they? They still put on a killer show and sound as good as ever. They’ve done about everything a band can do including hosting one of the longest running music festivals in the country. And they’ll do some more of it for the Rochester crowd.
Tickets start at $40. Doors open at 7pm and the music gets going at 8pm.
