Recently, news surfaces that AEG Live, the managers of Coachella, have been in the works with siting a major festival (tabbed as Panorama) in the NYC area, specifically Queens. Governor’s Ball is looking for your support in keeping the independent festival alive and strong.
Since 2011, Governors Ball has been the city’s premiere festival for bringing a diverse mix of genres to Randall’s Island (or Governors Island in its first round). Not only has it excelled in providing wholesome earfuls of sound, it has also flaunted the pride of NYC – the food vendors, beer taps, and the spirit of the city.
The new festival could put Founders Entertainment, the independent NYC-based promoters of Governors Ball, in a tough place. Panorama is set to take place only a few weekends after Governors Ball and could jeopardize the festival’s attendance.
Founders Entertainment is looking for your support to convince the Mayor’s Office and the City of New York to reject the proposal and push to have Panorama take place later in the year where it will not draw from Governors Ball.

As reported in The Daily News and multiple industry news outlets, AEG is lobbying the Mayor’s Office and other city agencies for approval of a major festival in Flushing Meadows Park in Queens two weeks after Governors Ball. The timing of this proposed event is an aggressive, greedy attempt by AEG to push a small independent company of born and bred New Yorkers out of business and out of the market.
We are writing you today to ask for your support and tell the Mayor’s Office and the City of New York to reject this proposed event that would take place two weeks after Gov Ball. We are asking that this proposed event take place at another time of year because this would allow both events to succeed. Please help Gov Ball survive and continue to serve you – the fans, friends, and family – for many years to come!
