Funky Jam Benefit Party Coming This Friday

Brace yourselves for a one-of-a-kind-event being held at the Westcott Theater this coming Friday. Local painter Yegor Mikushkin, will be MCing an evening of artistic outpouring, dubbed the Funky Jam Benefit Party. A full lineup of local musicians from multiple genres will join forces to raise money for a mural to be painted on the back wall of the Westcott Theater. A portion of ticket sales will go towards paint supplies, but additional donations will also be accepted.

Mikushkin describes his painting style as a form of cleaning in the way his brush strokes help organize his thought processes and hone in on the message he wishes to relay. Often working with a vibrant palette, Mikushkin’s work may appear more abstract at first, but look closely and you will start to form connections on the canvas. Mikushkin explains, “Through the process of cleaning, one will always find things they have long lost.” Though often striking, Mikushkin sees his work not as a collection of pretty pictures, but as vehicles for expansion, spreading messages to awaken the human conscience and drive us to think more deeply about our relationship to the planet and how we can help her heal.
