Brooklyn-based alternative rock band The Amatory Murder have released their new live album We’ve Lost Our Minds, capturing the electric energy exuded by the band during their live performances, giving listeners a new perspective on several of their songs.
Lead singer and founder Xian Murder reflects on the value of creating a live album, stating, “There’s something that happens to these songs when we play them live that you can’t completely recreate in the studio. The energy changes and sometimes the songs become something different altogether. We wanted to capture that honestly.”
We’ve Lost Our Minds perfectly captures the live magic that Xian describes. The performances featured in the album effortlessly display the band’s chemistry not only with each other but also with their audience. While feeding off of the audience’s energy, they share a heavier and more spontaneous side of their music. The classic melodies, electronics, and arrangements still remain at the forefront of these performances.
The album also serves to highlight The Amatory Murder’s dedication to live performance and touring. Since their inception, they have continuously worked to build a strong fanbase through independent releases, club shows, festivals, and DIY tours in the United States. Regardless of where they are, they are always dedicated to releasing music independently.
The Amatory Murder’s core lineup comprises Xian Murder (vocal, programming), Binx Noir (bass, backing vocals), and Jake Haimowitz (guitar). What originally began as Xian’s solo project soon turned into an impressive band whose sound draws from classic rock, alternative rock, post-punk, and electronic music. Some of their greatest influences include Pink Floyd, Muse, Depeche Mode, and David Bowie. Their music combines atmospheric production with heavy guitars and strong melodic songwriting.
Following the release of We’ve Lost Our Minds, The Amatory Murder returns to Lucky 13 Saloon in Brooklyn on Friday, October 30, alongside Witchforce and Mikey Massacre. Click here to buy tickets.
We’ve Lost Our Minds is available on all major streaming platforms, including Spotify.
