Mark Ambor Releases “New York Confident,” an Anthem for New York City

New York City-based singer-songwriter Mark Ambor released a new single, “New York Confident,” on Friday, May 22, a folk pop song that reflects pride in the city.

Produced alongside frequent collaborator Noel Zancanella and longtime band members Parker Sundby and Alex Mak, the single follows the success of his debut album Rockwood. The album was released in August 2024 to widespread praise.

Ambor’s album became a worldwide hit with the breakout single “Belong Together.” The track earned 25 platinum certifications globally. It has also amassed more than 1 billion streams to date and charted on the Billboard Hot 100. Ambor performed the track for his national television debuts on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and TODAY.

A New York state native, Ambor sings about his newfound home and expresses hometown pride along to upbeat guitar.

“I just moved to New York City a few months ago,” said Ambor. “I’m from about an hour north, but if I’m being honest, it’s been an adjustment trying to find my footing in a new place. That’s really what this song is about — finding yourself again, wherever you’re at and however you’re feeling.”

Ambor also released the song’s official music video. Directed by Alex Thurmond, the video captures Ambor joined by friends and famous figures alike across New York City, including Rachel Zegler, Yesly Dimate and more.

In the week leading up to the release, Ambor held a series of pop-up performances across New York City, including a sold-out show at Brooklyn’s Union Pool, a massive gathering at Union Square Park and a packed-out subway car on the 6 Train.

This single follows a busy 2025 for Ambor, with a completely sold-out European tour, a run of festival sets at Lollapalooza, Outside Lands and Governors Ball, among others and a nomination for MTV Push Performance of the Year at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards.

Ambor’s most recent headline, The Rockwood Tour, sold out in less than a day. Additional dates were added across multiple cities due to high demand. The tour included a two-night run at New York City’s Irving Plaza.

More from Mark Ambor is imminent.
