As warm weather returns to the Hudson Valley, the Colony Woodstock is once again opening its outdoor Garden stage to showcase both notable local and several acclaimed national acts.
On Sunday, May 24, the Garden will host a duo of local singer-songwriters, Eric Squindo and Laura Zarougian.

Squindo is a songwriter, performer, and producer who has become a cornerstone of the Hudson Valley music scene. Since his critically acclaimed album Roadsick, noted by the Asbury Park Press as one of the top ten releases of 2003, he has spent two decades refining a sound that blends the grit of Americana with the melodic sensitivity of alternative folk. He is also a founding member of the band Mister Roper, whose self-titled album was produced by ‘Professor’ Louie Horowitz and featured guest appearances by Tim O’Brien and John Platania.
In 2019, Squindo began producing unique tribute shows (Eric Squindo Presents), in which he curates ensembles of world-class musicians to reinterpret the catalogs of icons such as John Prine, Tom Waits, and Townes Van Zandt. His ability to anchor these high-energy productions while maintaining the intimacy of a living room session has earned him a reputation as both a masterful host and a formidable frontman. His band for the Colony Garden show will feature Dylan Orlando, Andrew Shober, Michael Hams, and Caroline Ryan.

Laura Zarougian, who calls herself “the Armenian cowgirl,” draws from country, folk, and rock, while lyrically exploring themes of her Armenian and Middle Eastern identities. Her debut album, Nayri, was named a go-to album of 2023 by Radio Woodstock. When she isn’t writing or listening to music, she is slinging vintage cowgirl boots and vinyl records with her husband and drummer, Michael Alan Hams.
Upcoming shows on the Colony’s Garden stage include The Bob Cats, the all-star tribute to Bob Dylan (May 22), and Gabriel Butterfield & the Tone Masons (May 29). Colony is complementing the shows on the stage in its Garden with performances by solos and duos on its Patio, including local artists like Peg ‘N Awl, Doug Marcus, and the Peter Einhorn Jazz Duo.
