Buckcherry and supporting acts brought the wild side of the nineties Saturday, October 11, at Sharkey’s Event Center in Liverpool. Channeling the sex, drugs and rock’n’roll aspect that made the nineties music iconic: Buckcherry, Nashville Pussy, and up and coming band Drew Cagle & The Reputation delivered an evening that will be soon forgotten. Bringing music lovers from all walks of life gathered to the illustrious Sharkey’s for nostalgia, camaraderie, and a bra throwing good time.

Underneath an evening of fast paced rock’n’rock, haze, and big energy there was an air of kismet. Where time stands still and you can catch a glimpse of the past within the present moment and possibly the future within the youth. That was bridged between headliner veteran acts and up and coming act Drew Cagle & The Reputation. Who excreted musical super stardome and in response the woman gushed, “I love your hat” and “can I have your hat”. The young musicians delivered an experience that felt authentic and unapologetic.

The second act of the night was long standing Nashville Pussy who has weathered father time with their tenacity and lust for the musician’s life. Their music and stage presence pushes boundaries and is aspirational for all who refuse to lay down to the man. Blaine Cartwright does not follow music industry rules and boundaries of mainstream media with his explicit music, explicit album covers, and unconventional appearance. Female accompanists Bonnie “Bon” Buitrago and Ruyter Suys pull out all the stops as female artists and prove that women are like wine who get better with time. The band riled up the crowd with their tenacity but shining moments were when Blaine Cartwright drank Jack Daniels from his hat and when Ruyter Suys pulled the strings out of her guitar.

Last best not least was headliner Buckcherry, who stole the show with their stage presence and oozing persona. Tattooed frontman Josh Todd still looks and moves like it’s 1999. Jumping all over the stage and slowly removing articles of clothing and consequently revealing more and more tattoos as the night progresses. The band pushed their performance and often glided across stage in unison and leaned into the sex appeal with gestures, comments and lyrics from their biggest hits. Crafting an evening that was delectable, savory and enticing for everyone; especially the ladies.

Overall, the entire evening was a hit. Sharkey’s is not only a beautiful venue that is welcoming and affordable but they keep cranking out the area’s hottest shows. Buckcherry and their opening act were amazing to experience but were very complimentary. Making each band a great stand alone act but together excellence.
