From October 18-19, the 14th annual Ragas Live Festival will feature 24 hours of continuous, transcendent music in the Pioneeer Works Main Hall.
First rooted from an in-studio broadcast at Columbia University’s radio station in 2012, the station immediately grew into a global listening audience. The annual presentation of 50-70 musicians and expansive presentation of music inspired by the Indian classical tradition, became central to the “The Raga Renaissance” musical movement as dubbed by The New York Times, The New Yorker, and NPR.

Ragas Live Festival is inspired by raga, the classical music tradition from South Asia, where specific modes blend with the moods and energy of different times of day, fro sunrise to the darkest hours of the night.
This October, Legendary maestros of the South Asian classical tradition will perform alongside groundbreaking contemporary artists in a musical journey through day and night for a continuous 24 hour cycle. More than 50 artists will be performing at the festival, from some of the greatest living sitar players, Shahid Parvez and Purbayan Chatterjee, to the ecstatic Qawwali of the Saami Brothers.
Doors at Ragas Live Festival will open on October 18 at 6 p.m. with music beginning at at 7 p.m. The festival will be held at 159 Pioneer Street, Brooklyn, NY 11234.
