On Friday, October 3, Queensrÿche returned to The Showroom at the Turning Stone Casino, bringing an explosive night of polished technical skills and raw metal whaling. Bridging past and present in a lush environment, the striking set and a song list spanned their entire musical career.

The Showroom is a premiere musical theater known for its intimacy, acoustics, lighting, comfort and breathtaking esthetics. As I walked around I could not find a bad seat, but instead found breathtaking views and amazing people who were excited to be present. Mixing a perfect cocktail to consume progressive metal band Queensrÿche. The show had no opening act and lasted about an hour and a half, the showmanship and raw talent was enough to carry the entire evening.

Overall, the evening was a visual and audio sensation. With banners donning the stage, powerful haze, stage platforms and most importantly a strong rapport with the crowd by dropping picks, fist bumping the front and talking to the crowd, eventually welcoming the entire room to push forward past the seats for the encore, creating an up close and personal setting. The crowd raised their fists in the air, cheered, howled and head banged to the adrenaline-fueling nature of the beat.

For the last decade, Queensrÿche has consisted of founding members Michael Wilton and Eddie Jackson, with new members Todd La Torre, Mike Stone and Casey Grillo. La Torre’s vocal range is powerful and the band has extreme precision, high energy and an energetic performance that has stood the test of time. The show was moving and breathtaking, carrying the audience in the with excitement, devotion and cheers.
