One of Hip Hop’s most influential and controversial artists, Playboi Carti, has announced his long awaited Antagonist Tour, slated to start this fall. Not only Carti, but also polarizing artists Ken Carson, Destroy Lonely Homixide Gang and an up-coming underground artist Apollo Red who is also signed to Carti’s label Opium.

This tour will witness Carti go all around the country, making a stop in the tri-state area in Brooklyn at the legendary Barclays Center on November 6 and then at the Prudential Center the following day November 7, in Newark.

This tour will be groundbreaking as Carti hasn’t toured since his first individual headliner in 2021 following his Whole Lotta Red album that reached Platinum status and was Carti’s first #1 album to top the Billboard 200 chart. This album had a huge impact on Hip-Hop, and some may even say a turning point in today’s music. Carti had introduced a new style of hip-hop with its energetic, high energy now known as “rage rap.”

At the start of the year Playboi Carti dropped his well awaited album MUSIC which led to his second #1 album to touch the Billboard 200 charts. A dominant release for Carti, this album displayed the evolution of his style and even aesthetic, securing Carti’s spot in this generation as one of the most prominent and innovative artists we’ve seen to come in years.

American Youtuber/ Podcaster/ Streamer Dj Akademiks who covers the majority of the hip- hop scene describes Carti as a pioneer of the rap game not just from his music but from his fashion and mystery mystique, aura. “I talked to Carti’s label, they confused bruh. They don’t know what the fuck Carti’s doing, man. I think Carti, without dropping much music, has increased his stock by only focusing on anticipation. Carti has such a dominate hold over culture. Even if he dropped like a trash album, I think people would like it,” stated Akademiks in a live stream.

The most prestigious publications in the world loved Playboi Carti’s album and gave great praise to him following it. Rolling Stone commended Carti, “Even when he slips into an uninspired chant or exhausts with his monomaniacal focus on drugs, women, cars, and taunting opps, he still magnetizes as a wholly unique pop star.” Even when he may rap about repetitive subjects like money, cars, jewelry, Carti keeps it compelling and very different from other artists.”

Following the same blueprint with WLR, Carti is set to take off with the Antagonist Tour going all over the country. First tour date being October 3 in Salt Lake City, Utah at the Delta Center, then making stops in Los Angeles, Philadelphia and Detroit before ending things off in his home city Atlanta, Georgia at the State Farm Arena December 1.

This tour makes it the first time the whole Opium label members will travel as a full group, artists who are also a part of the “rage rap” genre. Ken Carson’s More Chaos album recently has reached Billboard 200 #1 after his last album A Great Chaos After the release of LOVE LASTS FOREVER. Destroy Lonely became a punk, rap favorite with the album debuting at the top of the Rap, R&B, Hip-Hop album charts. With their Homixide Lifestyle 2 album release, Homixide Gang looks to continue to bring that high energy, southern grit to mainstream. Also newest Opium signee, Apollo Red will be performing everyday as well looking to get his name out there as much as possible.
