Brooklyn-based indie rock band Rookie Mistake have officially released their debut album Fields of Plenty. Supported by two stellar singles, the nine track album shows a new, softer side of the band.

The album opens with “Your Front Lawn Misses You,” a song with warm, nostalgic instrumentals and lyrics that depict a drifting relationship, perfectly setting up the rest of the album, which poetically grapples with the realities of modern life as a young adult.
“Playing Dead” and “Carousel” are moving instrumental tracks that act as seamless transitions throughout the album. The former is more reminiscent of Rookie Mistake’s previous work while the latter maintains the mellow undertones featured in the rest of the album.
“For Comrades And Lovers” is the final song which beautifully closes out the album and looks to the future as the lyrics suggest letting go of that which does not serve you.

Rookie Mistake began as a student band at SUNY Oneonta. The band features Ethan Brown and Justin Gambardella (both guitar and vocals), Gianna Minerva (bass), and Nick Fioravanti (drums). After releasing their debut EP I Will Not Die In Upstate New York, they relocated to Brooklyn to begin work on Fields of Plenty. They explain the passion and tight-knit nature they bring to the band, stating “We recorded and mixed the entire album in our small apartment’s living room while working full time jobs.”
Fields of Plenty is an impressive debut album that shows Rookie Mistake is not afraid to experiment with their sound. The stripped-back sound and vulnerability they offer is sure to draw in listeners old and new.
Fields of Plenty is available on all streaming platforms including Spotfiy.
Rookie Mistake will perform at an album release show at Pianos: Showroom on October 9 at 7 PM. Click here for ticket and event information.
