Moment in Time, a new album from Blues artist Mark Tolstrup and Texas vocalist Jill Tolstrup just released. Along with the album’s release was an announcement for a tour across New York.
The album serves as a collaboration between the two, accentuating their respective skills to create something truly unique. Their passion for classic blues music blends with their modern lives to create a hybrid between old and new. The production is traditional, but much of the album’s storytelling tackles modern-day issues. A track that especially stood out was “Lay You In The Ground,” opening the album with an electric guitar and Jill’s powerful vocals. All of this, combined with lyrics tackling domestic violence, makes for a really interesting song.
Mark and Jill are both based in Upstate New York. Their vision with their music is a combination of New Orleans and Austin. The album was recorded at Rockwell Pro Studio and Bender Studio, using live, one-take performances for the tracks. This creates a raw, intimate feeling you can hear across the entire album. Along with Mark and Jill, the album features special performances from Pete Toigo, Brian Melick, and Dave Lambert.
The group begins touring their album, Moment in Time, starting September 27th, traveling across New York State until January next year. For more information, visit their website.
