The Music Matters, a music blogger turned show promoter, has announced Halloween shows at two different New York City venues. Tiki bar Otto’s Shrunken Head will host an event called Ottoween, and the Parkside Lounge will host Hell-O-Ween. Each event marks the beginning of an annual Halloween tradition.

First, Ottoween at Otto’s Shrunken Head will take place on Thursday, Oct. 22, beginning at 6:00 p.m. This 21+ evening of music is free to attend and will feature The Patti Rothberg Coincidence, Val Kinzler, Soulcake, and Patti and the Paloozas.
Next, Hell-O-Ween at the Parkside Lounge will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30. Performers include Density Black Cat, AIH The Band, and The Dad Jokes featuring Patti Rothberg. Admission for this event is $5 and, like Ottoween, is exclusive to guests 21 and older. More information, including a link to purchase tickets, can be found on the Parkside Lounge’s website.

In the spirit of Halloween, these performers will pose as other artists. For example, Patti Rothberg will put on a show of “all things Patti,” including impersonating Patti Smith, Patty Smyth, and Patti LaBelle.
Past events organized by The Music Matters include a 2024 three-show run at Arlene’s Grocery and two nights at Our Wicked Lady. The organization has also released a 70-card collection of trading cards celebrating Brooklyn-based musicians.
