Dennis Arfa to Be Inducted During Billy Joel Symposium at LIMEHOF

The will honor legendary music executive Dennis Arfa on June 6 with an induction ceremony held during the LIMEHOF’s inaugural two-day Billy Joel Symposium in Stony Brook.

Best known as the longtime booking agent and business strategist for Billy Joel, Arfa has spent five decades helping shape the careers and touring success of some of the biggest names in music. The ceremony will take place at 7 p.m. at LIMEHOF’s location at 97 Main Street and will feature live music performances and special guests.

The induction is part of the first-ever Billy Joel Symposium, a two-day event devoted to the music, lyrics, themes, and cultural impact of the Long Island music icon. Scholars, musicians, critics, and music historians from across the country will gather to examine Joel’s artistry, life, and legacy through discussions and presentations.

Newly announced keynote speaker David Rosenthal, Billy Joel’s longtime musical director and keyboardist, has been added to the symposium lineup. Rosenthal will present “Stories From The Road,” reflecting on highlights and memories from his 33 years performing alongside Joel.

Additional featured speakers include John Jackson, director of the Billy Joel Archives, and Jason Hanley, Vice President of Education and Visitor Engagement at the .

Arfa’s influence on the music business stretches far beyond Billy Joel. Throughout his career, he has represented artists including Metallica, Rod Stewart, Def Leppard, Rush, Motley Crue, Limp Bizkit, Shakira, Blondie and Joan Jett among many others.

He is also widely credited as the architect behind Billy Joel’s historic residency at Madison Square Garden, as well as Joel’s record-setting stadium performances around the world.

“It is our honor to celebrate Dennis Arfa with his induction into the Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame,” said LIMEHOF Chairman Ernie Canadeo. “His reputation and accomplishments are second to none as he has established himself as one of the top music executives in the country for the past 50 years.”

Arfa reflected on the hometown recognition by saying, “My life in show business originated on Long Island and it has always been my home. Thank you to the Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame for this hometown honor.”

Today, Arfa serves as Chairman of the Music Division at Independent Artist Group, the agency formed in 2023 through the merger of Artist Group International and Agency for the Performing Arts. The company’s roster includes artists such as Neil Young, Ghost, The Smashing Pumpkins and Cage the Elephant.
