New York rock trio Joudy released their new single “Three Dollar Bill” on May 20. The track comes ahead of their upcoming album Permanent Maintenance, which will be released on July 24 through Trash Casual. The band will also play an album release show at TV Eye in Brooklyn on July 22.
“Three Dollar Bill” has a heavy, tense sound from the start. The song uses distorted guitars and a heavy drumbeat, creating a headbanging energy.
“…full of dissonant grunge guitar, heavy drums and meditative lyrics highlighting the band’s heroic struggle toward freedom,” said BKMAG about the band’s new album.

The song focuses on a relationship that feels unstable but hard to leave. Lines like “we are in perfect danger” and “you could never leave, I would never stay” show the back-and-forth feeling of wanting something even when it is clearly not good for you.
The official music video was directed by Santiago Franco and filmed live at Medusa Bar in Brooklyn. The video features lyrics and a live performance setting.
Joudy originally formed in San Cristóbal, Venezuela, before rebuilding in New York City. Moreover, with “Three Dollar Bill,” Joudy continued moving toward a heavier, more direct sound before the release of Permanent Maintenance.
Joudy are set to perform at Alphaville in Brooklyn on May 22, and at The Sultan Room in Brooklyn on June 4. Their album release show will take place at TV Eye in Brooklyn on July 22, before the band continues its East Coast tour.
The song can be streamed here, and the tour dates are available at joudyjoudyjoudy.com/#tour. Additionally, the new album can be pre-saved on different platforms.
