On Friday May 2, St. Andrew’s in New Paltz hosted the local band Wickham Falls for a stop on their first ever tour. The band, which originates from the Hudson Valley, was accompanied by New Vision (Hudson Valley) and 3 Dollars (Hoboken).
Though it may not be what typically comes to mind when considering small punk music venues, St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church (or, St. Andy’s as bands and fans call it,) often hosts small artists and events in their basement, providing a smoke and substance free environment for all ages to enjoy.

The night started with New Vision, a local four piece punk band. They quickly brought excitement and energy that lasted throughout the night. Following New Vision was 3 Dollars, a band visiting from Hoboken, New Jersey. The crowd warmly welcomed the band, who was playing their first ever show in the Hudson Valley region.

Wickham Falls took to the floor at the end of the night, on the second-to-last stop of their very first tour. The band has played their fair share of shows in the Hudson Valley, and has become a popular name in the local scene. The seven stop East Coast tour marks the first time they’ve been able to truly take their show on the road. Their set included a number of new releases, with a short break to sing happy birthday to the band’s guitarist.

Alternative music fans in the Hudson Valley can rest assured that the scene is alive and well in the area. There are talented artists to be found everywhere, playing everywhere from the back of a bar to a local church basement.
