The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra announced that President and Executive Director Daniel Hart will retire at the end of 2026 after more than two decades leading the organization.

Hart joined the BPO in 2004 and will remain in his role through Dec. 31, 2026, continuing to be involved in fundraising and program planning during the transition.
Beginning Sept. 1, Associate Executive Director and Vice President of Development Jennifer Barbee will take over day-to-day operations.
During Daniel Hart’s tenure, the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra expanded its reach through international recordings and tours, and deepened its presence in the Buffalo community through education programs and community partnerships.
The orchestra’s Board of Trustees, which has a succession plan in place, will begin a national search for Hart’s successor in the coming months.
The BPO continues under the artistic leadership of Music Director JoAnn Falletta.
