Headbanging to Riffs and Dancing to Dark Star: lespecial & STS9 at The Cap

lespecial and STS9 delivered a spectacle of a show at The Capitol Theatre, rich with contrasting styles – interstellar grooves by STS9 and gritty, riff heavy powerhouse jams from lesepcial. The Capitol Theatre was packed with fans who were greeted with a blend of genres from jamtronica to prog-metal, and even a “Dark Star” cover.

The heavy groove riffs of lespecial contrasted beautifully with the dance heavy trance of STS9. They have a very unique blend of sounds that is hard to dislike. Their set featured classics like “The Vessel” and “Sugaboi,” which showcased their ability to combine metal inspired riffs with jamtronica improvisation. Some members may have been seen playing the afterparty in Garcia’s. Their performance brought an exciting edge to the evening that warmed up the crowd up with raw intensity before STS9’s cosmic explorations.

STS9 hit the stage with their trademark blend of electronic textures and live music exploration. The first set started with “Never Never” and was filled with bass heavy grooves that shined best on “Soul Slap” > “Totem”. They ended the first set with an electrifying “Rent”.

The whole show felt like a cosmic journey where each transition flowed with precision amid complex grooves, their improvisational abilities keeping the audience locked in. The second set featured a big nod to the Grateful Dead roots of The Capitol Theatre with what might’ve been the highlight of the night, an incredible “Dark Star”. STS9 continues their tour and continues to keep their audience dancing with their epic grooves.
