Built around “I hate…” confessions, “Everything I Never Said” is set as confessions of remorse and painful realization, reminiscent of the “10 Things I Hate About You” poem. The song explores confronting true feelings, the impact of love, the intensity of desire and the sting of regret while acknowledging that some things can never be changed.

The track features an easy, rhythmic groove with narrative-driven lyrics that invite listeners into Genevieve’s private reflections. Each repetition of If you think this song’s about you, it probably is sharpens the emotional response as audiences reflect on their own experiences and Genevieve addresses the person who shaped both her longing and heartbreak.

Drawing inspiration from Beyoncé, Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus, as well as songwriters like Joni Mitchell, Genevieve blends heartfelt storytelling with a poppy melody.

Genevieve wrote and composed the track, and it was produced alongside GRAMMY Award-winning producer Joshua Monroy, whose credits include work with Justin Bieber, Elton John and OutKast.

Her 2025 self-produced debut EP, which included singles “forts” and “gods to ground,” showcased her lyrical depth and strong vocals. Genevieve crafted a more polished, pop-ready sound on her upcoming EP, Genevieve said. Her goal was to approach the body of work as a series of exhibits in a museum.
