Black Friday in Albany: Lark Hall Hosts Seize Atlantis and Darkside Skinny Dippers

A night of two rising bands on the biggest night out in Albany arrives on Black Friday when Seize Atlantis and Darkside Skinny Dippers join forces for an unbelievable night of music at Lark Hall.

The two most recent NYS Music March Madness winners, Darkside Skinny Dippers (2025) and Seize Atlantis (2023) will take place on Friday, November 28, with doors at 7pm and show starting at 8pm. The show caps off a year of 10th Anniversary celebrations for NYS Music, with merchandise available for donations towards the non-profit music website.

Seize Atlantis Darkside Skinny Dippers

Darkside Skinny Dippers blend traditional rock with modern influences which has made them stand out, with fans connecting with their raw energetic performances. Whether performing their original “This Is Your High” or throwing down an incredible cover, one thing is certain: Darkside Skinny Dippers leave it all on the stage.

Hailing from Saranac Lake, the band came up with their name as a derivative of “Dockside Skinny Dippers” when spitballing band names. Hailing from a boating family and looking for a connection to the water, DSD co-founder Josh Clement combined the idea of swimming off the dock naked with a the ‘darkside’ for Star Wars fans in the band, and in the crowd.

With their roots deeply planted in the North Country, the band has a deep appreciation for the region’s music scene. “The music scene in the North Country is as robust as ever,” Josh Clement said, noting the variety of venues keeping live music alive. One venue in particular holds a special place in their hearts—The Rusty Nail in Saranac Lake.

Seize Atlantis began as a jamming project in 2018, with a rotating cast of members and a different name. But eventually, only Mike Dardas (bass/backing vocals), Cody Platt (drums), and James Mullen (lead vocals/guitar) remained, and they decided to form a tight-knit trio. Meanwhile, Luc Bourgault had been playing with Cody and James in high school, and he eventually joined the group as lead guitarist.

After playing a few shows together, the pandemic hit, and the band took a seven-month hiatus. During this time, they decided to rebrand themselves as the Seize Atlantis we know and love today, reflecting their new creative direction and revitalized energy. Since returning to the stage in May 2021, Seize Atlantis has been performing regularly and writing new music.

The NYS Music team will be on hand to celebrate the 10th anniversary year of the statewide music website, as well as selling new merchandise offerings while also collecting donations for Jam for Tots.

Doors open at 7pm with the show starting at 8pm. Don’t miss Seize Atlantis and Darkside Skinny Dippers, together for the first time at Lark Hall. Get tickets here.
