Chamber Music Society of Utica Welcomes Neave Trio on Nov. 23

On Sunday, November 23, 2025 at 7:30PM, the Chamber Music Society of Utica present GRAMMY® Award-nominated Neave Trio in the world premiere of Jennifer Higdon’s A Vast Palette.

Neave Trio, praised for performances that “balance passion with sensitivity and grace” (BBC Music Magazine), is known for its fiery connection, exuberance, and a shared sense of storytelling that reflects the deep human bonds at the core of chamber music.

A Vast Palette is Higdon’s third piano trio, continuing the exploration of a central question: Can colors be reflected in music?

While the first and second piano trios examined Pale Yellow, Fiery Red, Wondrous White, and Brilliant Blue, this work introduces Majestic Green and Zesty Orange. In these piano trios, Higdon delights in crafting musical “colors,” offering performers the freedom to interpret and combine the movements in ways that best convey the vivid palette of each work.

Program for the performance include Dora Pejačević’s – Piano Trio in C Major, Op. 29, Jennifer Higdon – A Vast Palette, and Cécile Chaminade – Piano Trio No. 2 in A Minor, Op. 34.

The Chamber Music Society of Utica selects and produces an annual series of concerts with national and international ensembles of note. The Society prides itself on introducing promising upcoming groups, a remarkable number of which go on to their own stellar careers.

Among the country’s oldest presenting organizations for chamber music, CMSU survives thanks to the enthusiasm of patrons who have come to feel like a community, attending concerts year after year, introducing friends and family to the series, and providing support of a most concrete sort with their generous contributions.
