On Saturday, October 18 the Blush Tour made a stop at Lark Hall in Albany, following Molly Grace’s debut album Blush. To support this tour was Meg Smith, with both artists meshing perfectly together for a night of pop music, dancing, and singing along with a crowd, where your neighbor immediately felt like a best friend.

Meg Smith, a Brooklyn based pop musician known for her witty and honest song writing, opened the night with an unforgettable performance that was full of energy. Meg invited the crowd to participate in picking the cover she would sing with a decibel meter Lark Hall settled on “Mamma Mia” by ABBA.
Meg sang multiple songs standing on the floor with the crowd and invited everyone to chat at the merch table stating, “If you don’t know what to say I’d love to talk about Formula 1 or tell me what your being for Halloween.”

Molly Grace took the stage with an ability to control the crowd each person was hooked on her dancing and singing complete with two backup singers/dancers. Grace found a fandom though social media by sharing her writing skills and ability to connect it with a danceable production. Her Blush album, on its own, is interesting through layered vocals and instrumentals, but hearing it live adds an element you wouldn’t know is missing: added dance moves, audience interactions, and bringing out Meg Smith to sing “Girls Just Want to Be Famous,” props and an intimate sharing of “Soft” from the edge of the stage.

Grace sang her whole album along with some older songs, saying “Can I take you all to church for a minute,” Her fans immediately knew what was coming next as “Heaven Sent,” off Blush, complete with smart-mouthed lyrics like “Your love is my revival and I got one hand on the Bible” and “I’m praising like a sinner who just saw the light” perfectly encapsulating Molly’s unique style.

Molly Grace and Meg Smith will make a NYC stop at Bowery Ballroom on October 21 before continuing around the states. Be sure to attend this tour to experience the perfect pop pair for yourself.
