Lil Jon Plays Through the Rain at the NYS Fair

On Tuesday, August 26, the Lil Jon concert crowd was greeted with rain at the New York State Fair’s Suburban Park Stage. After a dry day of sunshine and cool air, Lil Jon stormed the stage and the sky quickly produced a rain storm, bringing an atmospheric cleansing to the club scene show and new dimension to the fair.

The one man show, Lil Jon charged the stage and carried the energy on his own. Meanwhile, winds swayed the large video screens that were to the left and right of the stage, as though the King of Crunk commanded the storm and channeled its energy. Teams quickly moved concert goers and brought the screens down for safety purposes. All the while, the fields were full of people dancing, feeling the moment of wind, rain and music.

Undoubtedly, the highlight of the evening was the “Get Low” performance from the 2002 hit from the album Kings of Krunk by Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz. 6,000 people were sparked with joy, bounced to the beat and got as low as they can, being 20+ years older now. While Lil Jon stopped singing to direct the crowd to wave their arm to the “windows” (towards the Ferris Wheel) and then to the “walls” (towards the beer tents).

Setlist: Shots, Culo, Krazy, Pursuit of Happiness, Laffy Taffy, Crank That, Buy U a Drank, Snap Yo Fingers, Salt Shaker, Wait, Get Low, Bend Ova, Gasolina, Yeah, Turn Down for What.
