On July 22nd at The Wellmont Theater, it was a perfect getaway to travel outside New York City to visit a friend, heading straight to Montclair, New Jersey, for the Gin Blossoms concert with their special guest, Spin Doctors.

Spin Doctors the band brought their signature blend of catchy hooks and laid-back vibes as part of a joint concert with Gin Blossoms. The show started at 7:30 PM with doors opening at 6:30 PM. They opened the stage with their classic hits “What Time Is It?, followed by “Boombox.’

Chris Barron’s powerful vocals classic soared through the venue, with the band energetic performance had the crowd singing along to hits like “Two Princes”. Given the band’ recent release of their album Face Full of Cake, the concert featured a mix of their classic hits and newer tracks.

And then they threw a cover of Prince’s classic hit “Purple Rain.”
The band’s current tour is scheduled to end on November 14, with their final; show at Bally’s Event Center in Lincoln. They have 31 dates across 30 cities lined up until November.

Gin Blossoms were up next for the finally, the band brought their signature sound, playing all the hits that fans love. The crowd was clearly enthralled, singing along to every word of “Hey Jealousy” and “Found Out About You.” The band energy was infectious, and their interaction with the audience added a special touch to the show.

The vocalist Robin Wilson was spot on, and the guitar work was crisp. It was a fun night out, especially with so many families in attendance. It felt like a reunion, with all the parents or grandparents bringing their little ones or grandkids; it was a fantastic family-friendly show. The band proved why they remain one of the most beloved bands of the ’90s.

Photographing them was a thrill, especially since their music was a big part of my high school years. Being one of the few photographers that night, and the only guy in the group, made it an exciting challenge to capture the band’s energy and interaction with crowd, making it truly amazing to see the fans of all ages singing along to hits like “Hey Jealousy.”

The Gin Blossoms concert ended on a high note, with band delivering a ’90s energy and nostalgic performance that had the crowd singing along to all their hits. As the night wrapped up, fans left the venue with big smiles, feeling grateful for the opportunity to experience the band’s music live.
