New York City based glam-punk band Bad Mary released their first ever live album Live on Long Island on July 15. Following the release, the band will host a release show on July 17.

The 16-track album takes material from four of their studio albums highlighting the past 13 years of their career with high energy songs filled with ethereal harmonies. The release is accompanied by a live music video for each song and a full concert film. Bad Mary is fronted by vocalist Amanda Mac with her husband Mike Staub on bass, her father Bill Mac on drums and her former professor David Henderson on guitar.
“We’ve always wanted to do a live album,” Staub said. “We write our music first and foremost to be performed live. We want to have a good time playing, and we want to perform songs that are equally fun for the audience. We’re all in the show together.”
Live on Long Island features songs like “Vibe-icide,” “It’s All Trash,” “Space Girl,” “Marz Attaqx” and even a cover of Queen’s “Tie Your Mother Down.” Bad Mary recorded the album at Industry in Huntington, NY. The LP showcases the band’s alluring stage presences with jokes and stage banter between songs.

The band’s live performance included dueling vocals with rough, yet dreamy harmonies and fast paced instrumentals. In the track “Hanging Around,” Bad Mary asked the crowd to time them as they played the song as fast as they could. The musicians use inventive techniques from haunting downward chromatic scales on the guitar in “Don’t Know Where the Line Is” to a blues-infused track with animal sounds and a breakdown of Talking Heads’ “Psycho Killer,” in the middle of “The Itch.”
On July 17, the band will celebrate the live album debut with a release show at AMH in Amityville, NY. In addition to the live album, Bad Mary is now writing and recording their next studio-album set to release later this year.
