Taking place in Benjamin C. Butler Pavilion Park, Lake Luzerne’s Food Trucks and Music Extravaganza will be recurring every Wednesday from July 9 to August 13 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. The event will feature performances from local bands and artists, and delicious food from various local food trucks.
The food trucks will be serving tasty treats such as tacos, fish and chicken sandwiches, gourmet mac & cheese, lemonade, doughnuts, and more. There will also be a 50/50 raffle to raise money for the Lake Luzerne Food Bank, as well as the chamber’s scholarship fund for HL senior students to assist with higher education expenses. Benjamin C. Butler Pavilion Park is a quiet and scenic little park overlooking Lake Luzerne, and lies just next door to Wayside Beach. The park is a central hub of community activity, and holds other events such as a free summer concert series, and the Pug Parade.
First dubbed the town of Luzern in 1808, in honor of a Major General of the French Royal Army, Lake Luzerne has a rich and deep history. The park this event is taking place was named after Lieutenant-Colonel Benjamin C. Butler, who served in the 93rd Infantry for the Union Army during the American Civil War. Lake Luzerne is also known for its fine leather-work, and is responsible for many of the early book bindings in the Library of Congress in Washington D.C.
For entertainment, there will be six bands, one for each week. First in the lineup is the Stoney Creek Band, known for their authentic mountain sound and modern interpretations of traditional American roots music. Next is Rustic Spirit, an American band that highlights the genres of country and classic rock. The following week is a performance by Big Sky Country, a high energy modern country band. For the last three weeks, Luzerne will host artists Susie Q and Matt, Elvis, and Tailspin.
