Lettuce dance the night away at the Rochester International Jazz Festival. On Friday, June 27, Lettuce returned to Rochester to perform at the Wegmans Stage at Parcel Five, a free headlining show for anyone to attend.
The outdoor event brought an excited crowd of party goers looking for an affordable experience that also brings quality and culture to the city. The RIJF predicted a growth in attendance and in response increased their security, and pushed blockages further away from the site of the festival making it safer to walk around the city.

It was an electric night of powerful funky grooves. Rochester came out in droves, transfigured into a crowd that pressed around the front of the stage. Fans brought heads of lettuce, carefully peeling the leaves off one by one to throw at the band, a tradition in Rochester. Large screens played footage of the band which morphed into shots of the crowd and the dramatically lit cityscape.

The six member instrumental band formed in Boston, Massachusetts the summer of 1992. Known for combining hip-hop, rock, psychedelic, jazz, soul, jam, go-go, and the avant-garde into funky tunes. Weaving their instrument’s resonance into a hypnotic, vibrational tapestry.

The Rochester International Jazz Fest is the first stop on Lettuce’s five month international tour. The band will be traveling the U.S. all of July and August and will be spending September and October across the pond. Lettuce dance some more!
